Florida rules out leading wide receiver for Saturday’s rivalry game with Georgia
Florida will need all the help it can get when it attempts to upend Georgia for the first time since 2020 this weekend, but the Gators already know they will be without a key piece.
The SEC’s weekly availability reports were revealed Wednesday, and a whopping eight Florida players were listed under the ‘out’ category.
And most notably, the Gators’ leading receiver Vernell Brown III has already been ruled out for this Saturday’s date with the Dawgs.

On a Florida offense that has been up-and-down throughout the season, Brown has been a consistent bright spot. The former blue-chip recruit has starred for his hometown school, hauling in a team-high 32 catches for 451 yards. The freshman truly broke onto the scene with an 8-catch showing against LSU, and he had racked up 70 or more receiving yards in three straight games heading into the bye week.
With Brown out, fellow touted freshman Dallas Wilson, UCLA transfer J. Michael Sturdivant and senior tight end Hayden Hansen will be counted upon to step up against a Georgia secondary that has been leaky when compared to its run defense.
The Gators and Bulldogs will kick off at 3:30 EST, with the game being broadcast by ABC.
