Florida saw its running back room for the 2026 season further damaged on Wednesday afternoon with the expected transfer of Treyaun Webb, whose agent told On3 that he was heading elsewhere for next fall.

Webb isn’t just another potential key piece for Florida who won’t be returning for Jon Sumrall‘s first season as head coach, he’s a Gator legacy, so his departure hurts that much more. He’s the cousin of former Florida defensive back Dee Webb, but apparently this Webb isn’t sticking around in Gainesville for another year after spending the past 3 seasons as a backup running back.

It’s the latest hit for a Florida running back room that is suddenly in question for 2026, with KD Daniels and Chad Gasper Jr. already making it known that they are headed to the portal when it opens on Friday. Throw in the questionable future of star running back Jadan Baugh, who rushed for over 1,000 yards this past season, and the depth at the position is heavily in limbo as the new year hits.

Webb made his biggest impact in Gainesville as a true freshman during the 2023 season, when the Jacksonville native rushed for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was poised for better things in 2024, but Webb only rushed for 93 yards and 1 TD.

Then things took a turn for the worse this season, when Webb suffered a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the entire campaign. Webb had surgery in August and was in recovery mode for the entire fall.

Webb will have 3 years of eligibility remaining, wherever he winds up for the 2026 season, and he’ll be hoping for better health and for more playing time. Meanwhile, the Gators’ situation at running back for next fall sinks deeper into question with Webb’s departure.
