Florida offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun suffered an injury in practice on Wednesday, according to a report.

That’s per AllGators’ Zach Goodall, who notes Eguakun is considered “day-to-day” with a lower body injury. Eguakun is slated to be Florida’s starting center this fall.

The timing isn’t ideal, as the Gators are exactly 2 weeks away from facing Utah in their season-opener. Florida will open the season on Thursday, Aug. 31 against the Utes.

Eguakun is one of the most experienced offensive linemen in the SEC. He’s started 26 straight games for the Gators, all at the center position, over the past 2 seasons.

It’s currently unclear if Eguakun’s injury will threaten to snap that streak of starts.

With Eguakun out, Florida does have a couple of options behind him on the depth chart. According to Goodall, redshirt sophomore Jake Slaughter and true freshmen Roderick Kearney are the top candidate to receive playing time in Eguakun’s absence. Kearney was ranked as the No. 4 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Florida and Utah will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on Aug. 31.
