Former Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll just finished his second season in the same role with the Buffalo Bills. But the Cleveland Browns were impressed enough with Daboll’s handling of the Bills’ offense and QB Josh Allen in particular to offer him an interview for the open head coaching position.
Multiple reports, including from Football Scoop and Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News, suggest that the interview will be on Monday.
With Alabama in 2017, Daboll led an offense that scored in 49 consecutive quarters, which was the NCAA’s longest streak since 2005. Alabama led the SEC in scoring offense (37.9 ppg) and was No. 4 in total offense (449.7).
Daboll has coached with five other NFL teams before his current role with the Bills, mostly with the New England Patriots. He also coached with Nick Saban at Michigan State.
Allen had mixed emotions when he discussed the possibility of Daboll leaving the Bills, who exceeded expectations this season when they clinched a playoff berth with a week to go in the regular season.
