Former Alabama DB receives multi-game suspension from NFL

Former Alabama DB Kareem Jackson has received a multi-game suspension for a play that got him ejected on Sunday.

Jackson will miss the Denver Broncos’ next 4 games for violations of the league’s unnecessary roughness rules. He was tossed from Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

“On the play in question, you delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of a defenseless receiver, when you had the time and space to avoid such contact. You could have made contact with your opponent within the rules, yet you chose not to,” Jackson was told in a letter from NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan.

Jackson has picked up multiple roughness fouls, including a flagrant hit in Week 2 against Washington that also resulted in his ejection. Jackson’s teammates have defended him against accusations that he is a dirty player.

Jackson will miss Denver’s upcoming games against Kansas City, Buffalo, Minnesota, and Cleveland. He is eligible to return to the active roster on Nov. 27.

A member of Alabama’s 2009 national championship squad, Jackson was a first-round draft pick by the Houston Texans in 2010. He remained with the Texans until 2019 when he signed with the Broncos.
