A former Alabama running back has decided to continue his college football career playing for Deion Sanders.
Richard Young entered the transfer portal after 3 seasons at Alabama. On Saturday, he told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he has committed to Colorado.
A native of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Young was a sought-after prospect in the Class of 2023. At Alabama, however, he made limited contributions over 3 seasons.
This past season, Young appeared in 5 games for the Crimson Tide. He logged 23 carries for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns in his redshirt sophomore season.
Young was a bit more productive in 2024 than ’25. He appeared in 7 games of his redshirt freshman season, recording 146 rushing yards and 2 TDs on 27 carries.
In 2023, his first year on campus, Young played in just 3 games, allowing him to redshirt. He had 9 carries for 24 yards and 1 score in his debut season.
Out of Lehigh Senior High School, Young was rated 4-stars, the No. 4 running back, No. 13 player in the state of Florida and No. 55 prospect overall on the 247Sports Composite. He collected 59 scholarship offers and chose Nick Saban and Alabama over Georgia, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Oregon and others.
