Former Alabama and Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has been denied parole, the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners ruled on Thursday via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Ruggs is currently serving a 3-10-year prison sentence after driving under the influence at speeds of up to 156 miles per hour and crashing into 23-year-old Tina Tintor. The collision, which took place on November 2, 2021, tragically killed both Tintor and her dog, Max.
The former first-round pick’s blood-alcohol level, taken 2 hours following the collision, registered a 0.16% — well beyond the legal limit. Ruggs pled guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter, sentenced in August of 2023.
According to Schefter’s report on Thursday, Ruggs will go before the parole board again in May or 2027, three months before his mandatory parole release date of Aug. 24, 2027.
Ruggs was 22 at the time of the crash and appeared in a total of 20 games across his 2 seasons in the NFL. He spent 3 seasons at Alabama before being selected No. 12 overall by the Raiders in 2020 and contributed to the Tide’s 2017 national championship squad as a freshman.
