Former Auburn QB Hank Brown wins starting job at Iowa to begin 2026

Former Auburn QB Hank Brown transferred to Iowa before the start of the 2025 season but didn’t get much playing time, finishing with 107 yards.
Instead of transferring after the 2025 campaign, he remained in Iowa City, and he was named the starting quarterback in the Hawkeyes Week 1 matchup against Northern Illinois.
He got the Hawkeyes on the board with a touchdown pass to Tony Diaz in the first quarter against Northern Illinois:

Brown was a 3-star quarterback in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He chose the Tigers over other schools such as Illinois, Minnesota, and Pitsburgh among others.
During his time at Auburn, he played sparingly and never secured the role as the quarterback of the future. He finished with 535 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions in two years for the Tigers.
After transferring to Iowa last season, he found himself once again in a limited role, but he showed the coaches during the offseason that he deserved to be the starting quarterback. The Hawkeyes have had issues at quarterback for many seasons, and if Brown is able to come in and play well, then they could be a dark horse team in the B1G.
Brown and the Hawkeyes will face a much tougher test in Week 2, as they host in-state rival Iowa State in the annual Cy-Hawk game.
