Former Auburn staffer accused of giving sensitive ‘trade secrets’ to opponents

A former Auburn University employee was placed under arrest earlier this week after being accused of providing key information about Auburn‘s athletics program to the university’s opponents.
The employee arrest was reported on Tuesday morning by AL.com.
The person who was arrested is a 24-year-old man from Franklin, Tenn. He was arrested by the Auburn Police Department after an investigation into an alleged theft as well as the distribution of “sensitive business information” from Auburn, per the report.
The Tennessee man has been charged with theft of trade secrets and computer tampering. The Auburn Police Department announced that the man was arrested on Monday for those specific charges.
The Auburn Police investigation into the man was launched after an incident that was reported in the 300 block on South Donahue Drive in the city of Auburn. According to Auburn Police, a business had reported that “sensitive information had been stolen and distributed to competitors.”
According to a report by CNAW2News.com, investigators confirmed that one of the business’s competitors received the stolen information but then turned the information back over to the business.
The Tennessee man who was arrested was identified as the suspect during the investigation. The Auburn Police Department obtained warrants for the man’s arrest, and the man eventually turned himself in to Auburn Police.
The arrested man was moved to Lee County Jail, and he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
