Former Florida DB CJ Gardner-Johnson delivers iconic description of Eagles’ Super Bowl performance
Former Florida star defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson knows how to play, and he knows how to talk, too.
And after his Philadelphia Eagles destroyed the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl 59 on Sunday night in New Orleans, the Eagles safety told the world exactly what went down in the Big Easy. As in, he told everybody what the Eagles did in denying the Chiefs the first 3-peat in Super Bowl history.
The 27-year-old proclaimed to TMZ Sports that the Eagles “put belt to ass” on Kansas City, but, of course, he didn’t stop there.
“All ya’ll tried to clown me,” he continued. “Now, I’m clowning ya’ll stupid asses!”

Gardner-Johnson, who was on the other side of the coin 2 years ago when the Eagles lost to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57, spent last season with the Detroit Lions before returning to Philadelphia in 2024 and experiencing the better side of the Super Bowl. He had 3 total tackles, 1 solo, in helping the Eagles’ secondary completely shut down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ passing attack.
Then, amid the glory of the Super Bowl aftermath, Gardner-Johnson let loose with his mouth like he did with his play on Sunday night in helping Philadelphia register a dominant championship performance.
