Fabian, who was named the 2021 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Baseball, played 2 seasons at UF. His decision to transfer did not come as a surprise after he saw a notable reduction in playing time.
As a freshman, Fabian played in 46 games (43 starts), posting a .218 batting average in 142 at-bats, collecting 31 hits, 4 home runs and 22 RBIs. Fabian logged just 38 at-bats over 22 games (10 starts) as a sophomore. He had 11 hits, including 2 home runs, as part of a 10-RBI season.
Fabian’s uncle expressed frustration over his nephew’s lack of playing time in 2023. Deric remained with the Gators through their College World Series Finals appearance.
Could not be any prouder of @DericFabian Lived out his boyhood dream of playing for @gatorsBB But I am most proud of the teammate that he was this year. With all the crap that he had to endure this season he was the best teammate possible. Excited for his future #formergatoruncle https://t.co/SrKy6LHJZp

Jud Fabian, Deric’s older brother, was selected No. 67 overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2022 MLB Draft. Jud was promoted to Double-A in June.
