Texas Tech begins the 2026 season ranked No. 12 in the AP Top 25. After the program parted with Brendan Sorsby, the Red Raiders named Will Hammond as their starting quarterback.
Hammond is entering his junior year. He was limited to just 8 games, including 2 starts, last season due to a knee injury. Hammond completed 69-of-109 passes for 680 yards and 7 touchdowns, throwing 3 interceptions. A dual-threat, he added 43 carries for 299 yards and 5 TDs.
Castellanos has played in 38 games over 4 seasons at UCF (2022), Boston College (2023-24) and FSU (2025), making 32 starts. He threw for 6,449 yards, 48 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,984 yards and 24 scores.
Texas Tech hosts Abilene Christian on Sept. 5 to open the season.
