Former Georgia DB planning lawsuit to play in 2026, enter transfer portal

The college football world was rocked once again at the beginning of August when a court ruling announced that it would allow players from the 2022 recruiting cycle to seek another year of eligibility.
This latest bombshell was quickly followed by a slew of former college players currently vying for roster spots in the NFL announcing they were officially entering the transfer portal to return to the college ranks.
Former Georgia Bulldogs safety JaCorey Thomas appears to be the latest former college standout seeking another opportunity to play at the NCAA level, with CBS Sports insider Mike Zenits reporting on Monday that Thomas is planning a lawsuit that would allow him to enter the Transfer Portal.

Thomas was a member of Georgia’s top-ranked 2022 recruiting class and spent all 4 years of his college career with the Dawgs. He played in parts of every season in Athens and started all 14 games as a senior in 2025, racking up 45 tackles and 1 sack.
He went undrafted this past May but received an invite to the Carolina Panthers rookie mini-camp, where he was ultimately unable to secure a roster spot.
Now, Thomas looks to be joining the dozens of former players who will be looking for a new home at the NCAA level right as the 2026 season officially kicks off.
