Former Georgia tight end Ben Yurosek was among many other undrafted free agents looking to land a spot on his team’s 53-man roster for Week 1.

Ultimately, it was good news for Yurosek. He survived the final wave of preseason cuts on Tuesday and will begin the season on the Minnesota Vikings’ active roster, the team announced.

Yurosek, a Bakersfield, Calif. native, began his college career at Stanford, signing with them out of the class of 2020 and redshirting as a true freshman. He totaled 108 catches for 1,342 yards and 5 touchdowns across 4 seasons with the Cardinal, picking up second-team All-Pac 12 honors in 2022.

After graduating from Stanford, he used his final year of eligibility at Georgia. There, he made 15 catches for 185 yards.

He entered the NFL Draft after the 2024 season and didn’t hear his name called, but signed as a UDFA with the Vikings. After what The Athletic Vikings beat writer Alec Lewis called a “good camp,” Yurosek has survived Cut Day and will be on Minnesota’s 53-man roster in a TE room that includes 2-time Pro Bowler T.J. Hockenson.

The Vikings begin their season on Sept. 8 as they face the Chicago Bears in an NFC North contest. Minnesota was 14-3 in 2024 and lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round.
