Former Kentucky star Bam Adebayo was only able to rejoin his Miami Heat teammates on Tuesday ahead of this coming week’s NBA restart.

The reason? The ex-Wildcat tested positive for COVID-19, which he revealed while speaking with reporters.

Per Adebayo, he was asymptomatic and went through the 2-week quarantine without many problems (via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel):

“I was pretty much fine the whole time,” Adebayo said on a media video teleconference after the Heat’s evening practice. “It’s a crazy thing that somebody could be asymptomatic.”

Now, it’s just about getting back to his All-Star form and regaining his conditioning moving forward:

“Me, personally, I would say I’m ready,” the All-Star center said. “But that’s ’cause I’m a freak of nature and I just want to play. That’s just the bottom line.

“But I got to take it one day at a time, so I don’t think I’m going to play tomorrow, just so I can get my legs under me. I haven’t really been moving around, besides just being in the house. So trying to get my body acclimated and get back in a groove.”

Prior to the league suspending play amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Adebayo was averaging 16.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game.
