Out of Pensacola (Florida) Catholic High School, McGhee was a blue-chip recruit in the Class of 2021. As a prospect, he was rated 4-stars, the No. 13 cornerback, No. 29 Sunshine State product and No. 192 overall on the 247Sports Composite. McGhee was a notable get for LSU’s 2021 class, but his college career has not played out as expected.
As a true freshman, McGhee played in 12 games for the Tigers, logging 5 tackles. In 2022, he played in just 1 game, taking a redshirt.
After 2 seasons in Baton Rouge, McGhee transferred to Kansas. He was limited by a back injury, playing in just 8 games over the 2023 and ’24 seasons with the Jayhawks.
McGhee will have to move quickly to find a new program for 2025 with fall camp practices just around the corner for most schools.
