Former LSU DE Danielle Hunter is getting paid. Hunter and the Minnesota Viking agreed to a new 1-year deal for up to $20 million, with $17 million guaranteed.

Hunter’s status with Minnesota was briefly uncertain. The veteran defender reported to training camp but was not practicing, and was the subject of reported trade talks. The new deal represents a significant raise for Hunter, who was due just $4.9 million in base salary on his previous contract for 2023.

Hunter played at LSU from 2012-to-2014. Minnesota used the No. 88 pick to select Hunter in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Hunter made the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2015. In 2018, he was named second-team All-Pro.

In 2022, Hunter made the Pro Bowl for the 3rd time in his career, posting 66 tackles and 11.5 sacks as a 17-game starter.
