The Kansas City Chiefs watched as starting RB Spencer Ware went down with a knee injury during this week’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
It appeared to be serious at the time, and now the team’s worst fears have been confirmed.
According to Pro Football Talk, the former LSU back tore his PCL and sustained other damage to his knee and is likely out for the entire 2017 season.
Rookie RB Kareem Hunt and veteran Charcandrick West are expected to fill the void left by Ware’s injury.
In 2016, Ware led the Chiefs with 921 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 214 carries and added 33 catches for 447 yards and two scores while playing a big role in the passing game.
