Former LSU star Jamal Adams signs with Minnesota Vikings

Jamal Adams is headed to Minnesota.
The former LSU Tigers strong safety, who now plays as a linebacker after switching positions last season in Las Vegas, officially signed a deal the Vikings on Tuesday after the signing was originally reported Monday night. Adams posted “Year 10. #Skol.” to his personal X account just after the initial reports from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and others.
The 30-year-old has some momentum heading into next season for the first time in a long time. Adams hasn’t quite been the same player since tearing his quadriceps with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022, which required season-ending surgery. He played just 9 games in 2023 and posted 7 tackles across 5 games for the Titans and Lions in 2024.
According to Zenitz, the Vikings intend to use Adams as a linebacker in 2026, meaning he won’t be returning to the strong safety position he played across the first 8 years of his NFL career. Adams totaled 45 tackles with 1 sack and 1 forced fumble last season as a linebacker with Las Vegas.
Minnesota will be the 6th stop of Adams’ NFL career. He was originally drafted No. 6 overall in 2017 by the New York Jets and spent 4 years in Seattle after a 3-year stint in NYC. As previously mentioned, Adams also suited up for the Titans, Lions and Raiders.
