Former Ole Miss WR De’Zhaun Stribling receives injury timetable update

Former Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling suffered an ankle injury (deltoid sprain) during his first game as a San Francisco 49er against the Los Angeles Rams last week. Soon after, the 49ers confirmed that Stribling will miss time.
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that Stribling has been placed on IR, meaning he will miss at least the next 4 games. This is consistent with earlier reporting which stated Stribling would be out “at least a month.”
San Francisco is slated to face Washington in Week 6, when Stribling is first eligible to return off IR. Obviously, his injury could keep him out longer.
Reports out of preseason camp spoke highly about the former Ole Miss wide receiver, who was slated to play a legitimate role in his first season in the NFL despite sharing the field with Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel. Stribling has excellent size at 6-foot-2, 207 pounds and was San Francisco’s answer to Jauan Jennings’s departure after the former Vol signed with Minnesota this offseason.
While Stribling’s injury is certainly a setback, San Francisco started the season well with a 27-7 win over the Rams — who definitely want a do-over for Week 1. Next up, the 49ers are set to host the Miami Dolphins.
