The college football season is less than 3 weeks away, but that doesn’t mean teams are done adding to the roster. On Monday, Vanderbilt received a commitment from former Temple defensive lineman Khalil Poteat, after he was granted an injunction against the NCAA and ruled eligible to play the upcoming season.

Poteat was ruled eligible on Friday and was given one more year of eligibility after he spent 2 seasons at the junior college level. He played at Temple the last 2 seasons and finished last year with 29 tackles and 2 forced fumbles for the Owls.
For the Commodores, the defensive line has a legitimate chance to be a strength of the team. Returning for the team is defensive tackle Jaylen Stone and Mason Carter, while Boston College transfer Edwin Kolenge and Iowa transfer Brian Allen Jr. are two more pieces that should give them the depth to compete in the SEC.
Vanderbilt is a program on the rise under coach Clark Lea, and getting depth on both the offensive and defensive lines is a must if the Commodores are going to continue their rise among the top teams in the SEC.
