Florida and Texas could potentially swap running backs coaches.

Jabbar Juluke was Florida‘s running backs coach for the past 4 seasons under Billy Napier. New head coach Jon Sumrall, however, elected not to retain Juluke, and he has since been hired by Steve Sarkisian, replacing Chad Scott at Texas. On Monday, FootballScoop reported, per sources, that Scott is a target to be the running backs coach on Sumrall’s UF staff.

It would be something of a homecoming for Scott, 44. A native of Plant City, Florida, Scott left the Sunshine State to play running back at Kentucky (2000-01) and North Carolina (2002-04).

Scott got into coaching shortly after his playing career. He began as a graduate assistant at UNC. Scott’s career includes stops at Troy, Texas Tech, Kentucky, North Carolina and West Virginia coaching running backs. Over 6 seasons at WVU, Scott’s responsibilities also included run game coordinator (2022), offensive coordinator (2023-24) and interim head coach (2024).

Ahead of the 2025 season, Scott joined the Texas staff. He was dismissed from his post in Austin earlier this month.

Scott and Sumrall have one year of overlap in Lexington as teammates. Sumrall redshirted at Kentucky in 2001, Scott’s second and final season with the Wildcats. The two have each coached at Kentucky and Troy, but not together.
