FOX Sports analyst RJ Young has become a prominent voice in college football, providing fans with predictions and takes throughout the college football season. While the 2024 season is over, the work doesn’t stop as Young is already coming out with his top 5 for the preseason ranking in college football for 2025.
He started off with Georgia as the No. 5 team, even though the team is having to replace quarterback Carson Beck as he transferred to Miami in the off-season.
His No. 4 team heading into next season is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who is coming off a run to the national title game. They bring back some of their most explosive players at the skilled positions, and figure to be 1 of the best offenses in the country.
At No. 3, it is the Oregon Ducks, who were undefeated last year until losing to Ohio State in the CFP. The Ducks do lose Dillon Gabriel, but superstar wide receiever Evan Stewart is back.
It is time for the Arch Manning era at Texas, and the Longhorns come in at No. 2 in Young’s preseason ranking. Texas has the best recruiting class in the country coming to Austin, and the Longhorns once again will be as talented as any team in college football.
The Ohio State Buckeyes won the national title this past season, and Young thinks they have the ability to be right there again next season. Caleb Downs and Jeremiah Smith are arguably the 2 most talented players in college football, and will have them leading the way in Columbus in 2025.
