Frank Wilson shares latest on Garrett Nussmeier’s availability for Week 13
Garrett Nussmeier missed the LSU Tigers‘ Week 12 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks after re-aggravating an abdomen injury he has dealt with for much of the 2025 season. LSU’s Week 13 contest versus Western Kentucky is the Tigers’ final home game of the year, meaning it’s Nussmeier’s Senior Night. At this moment, though, his game status is uncertain.
On Monday, Tigers interim head coach Frank Wilson was mum on Nussmeier’s availability versus the Hilltoppers. He knows how important it is for Nussmeier to play in what would be his final game in Baton Rouge, but he won’t allow the quarterback to risk further injury if LSU’s staff doesn’t clear him.
“I know he [wants to be out there],” Wilson said. “But we will defer to our trainers and doctors… I don’t have those answers just yet.”
Nussmeier has completed 67.4% of his passes (194/288) for 1,927 yards, 12 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. His senior campaign hasn’t exactly gone as planned — he entered the season as a contender to be the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NFL Draft — but he would obviously love to end his Tiger tenure on a high note. LSU and Western Kentucky will kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET on Saturday (SEC Network).
