Garrett Nussmeier was asked about his thoughts on LSU hiring Lane Kiffin at the Panini Senior Bowl, and he believes “they are headed in the right direction.”
Nussmeier didn’t have the senior year many expected. Coming into the year, there were high expectations for LSU and Nussmeier. Many expected him to take the next step and solidify himself as one of the top quarterbacks in college football. Unfortunately, Nussmeier dealt with a persistent abdominal injury throughout the 2025 season and was shut down for the final month of the season.
Here’s what Nussmeier had to say when asked about LSU hiring Kiffin:
“Well, I guess as (Paul) Finebaum said the other day, he’s going to get the last laugh,” Nussmeier said. “I believe they’re going to win. I believe that they are headed in the right direction. I believe he’s great for the fit, of the culture of Louisiana, of the players in the locker room. Obviously, he’s an unbelievable X’s and O’s football coach as well, so I think they’re going to do some great things.”
According to Mel Kiper, Nussmeier is currently ranked as the 6th quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. He’s expected to be selected somewhere between the third and sixth round.
