Georgia is down a commitment after an in-state defensive lineman announced he is backing off his verbal pledge to the Bulldogs.
Elbert County defensive tackle Marlin Dean announced Saturday that he is reopening his recruitment. He had committed to the Dawgs back on March 6, 2020.
“I want to thank the university of Georgia for giving me the opportunity to play at a high level but after having a sit down with family this was the best decision for me. I have decided to decommit an open my recruitment!!!! GO DOGS ” Dean shared on his Twitter account.
Listed at 6-6, 265 pounds, Dean is rated 3-stars, the No. 28 defensive tackle, No. 35 recruit in Georgia and No. 457 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. Eight programs have extended offers to Dean this year: Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
With the decommitment of Dean, UGA is at 10 commitments for 2021. The class is currently ranked No. 5 in the SEC and No. 16 nationally on the Composite.
