One of the top linebackers out of the state of Georgia announced Monday that he will play for Kirby Smart and Co. in 2027.

Joakim Gouda committed to Georgia, choosing the Bulldogs over Florida, Texas and Auburn. Gouda’s offer list also included programs such as Alabama, Tennessee and Florida State.

Gouda hails from Powder Springs, Georgia, which is located just outside of Atlanta. He attends McEachern high school and stands at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds. According to 247ports analyst Gabe Brooks, Gouda shows an impressive tackling ability and thrives off the ball on first and second downs.

He’s a highly-rated prospect, too. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Gouda is considered to be the No. 193 overall prospect in the Class of 2027, as well as the No. 14 linebacker and No. 21 player out of the Peach State.

As for Georgia’s recruiting class, Gouda is so far considered to be the 4th highest-ranked prospect according to 247Sports, behind only Kemon Spell (RB), Jaxon Dollar (TE) and Kelsey Adams (OT). Finally, Gouda is the 2nd linebacker commitment for the Bulldogs in the Class of 2027, joining 3-star prospect Temorris Campbell Jr. out of Opa Locka, Florida.
