The Georgia Bulldogs play their first FBS opponent of the season today when they welcome the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers to town. Following last week’s destruction of Tennessee State, head coach Kirby Smart knows exactly who he wants leading his squad onto the field today.
Ahead of this afternoon’s kickoff, the Bulldogs revealed their captains for the game versus the Hilltoppers. Running back Nate Frazier, defensive back KJ Bolden, wide receiver London Humphreys and linebacker Terrell Foster received the honor.
There’s perfect balance among this group of Georgia captains. We have two juniors (Frazier, Bolden) and a pair of seniors (Humphreys, Foster). Frazier and Humphreys are on offense, with Bolden on Foster on the defensive side.
In terms of production in Week 1 against the Tigers, Frazier led the way. The star rusher had 4 carries for 72 yards and 3 touchdowns. His efforts allowed his fellow captains and other starters to sit for a good chunk of last week’s game. Twenty-six different Bulldogs recorded an offensive touch in that contest, while 31 defenders tallied a tackle.
Humphreys needs 41 receiving yards to surpass 1,000 career receiving yards. He’ll try to get it this afternoon, when Georgia and Western Kentucky kick off at 12:45 p.m. E.T. (SEC Network).
