In a surprise move, 5-star tight end Jaxon Dollar, one of the top tight ends in the Class of 2027 and the top player out of North Carolina, announced on Thursday that he will play for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Dollar hails from Denver, North Carolina (located just outside of Charlotte) and attends East Lincoln high school. He stands at 6-foot-5, 222 pounds and has excellent hands, which make him a threat as a pass-catcher on Day 1.
Dollar was considered a Notre Dame lean heading into his commitment, but he ended up choosing the Bulldogs over the Fighting Irish, Miami, Texas and Clemson. He’s considered a high 4-star prospect by some recruiting outlets, but listed as a 5-star per 247Sports.
Dollar is one of the top 50 players in the Class of 2027 cycle. He’s considered to be the No. 33 overall prospect according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, as well as the No. 1 player out of North Carolina and the No. 2 overall tight end behind only 5-star prospect Ahmad Hudson.
Dollar is the 8th commitment of the cycle for Kirby Smart and Co, as well as the 3rd 5-star prospect alongside RB Kemon Spell and 5-star CB Donte Wright.
