After handing Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels their first loss of the season, the Georgia Bulldogs have climbed into the top 5 of ESPN’s updated power rankings.

Georgia jumped 3 spots from its ranking last week and slots in as the No. 5 team in ESPN’s power rankings following Week 8. Georgia hosted Ole Miss this past Saturday, and Gunnar Stockton and the Bulldogs’ offense hung 43 points on the Rebels to win the game 43-35.

Stockton was on fire against the Rebels, completing 26 of his 31 passing attempts for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also added 59 yards and another touchdown on the ground to his totals.

Here’s what ESPN’s Mark Schlabach had to say about Georgia in this week’s power rankings:

Georgia fans who had any lingering doubts about quarterback Gunnar Stockton probably don’t have them any longer after Saturday’s 43-35 victory against Ole Miss…Stockton was a perfect 12-for-12 with three touchdowns in the second half…,” Mark Schlabach of ESPN wrote. “Even when the Bulldogs fell behind in games against Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss, Stockton never flinched. He ranks No. 2 in the FBS in total QBR (91.0) and has thrown only one interception with 17 total touchdowns.
