Emotions always run high during a college football game, but the last thing you want at any point is fans getting involved with players.
That’s what we saw on Saturday after Georgia‘s 20-17 win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Reggie Chatman Jr. from Atlanta’s WXIA-TV was covering the game from Bryant-Denny Stadium and caught video of a Crimson Tide fan shoving the helmet of Bulldogs linebacker Raylen Wilson.
To his credit, Wilson walked away without escalating the situation.

Donโt love seeing stuff like this from fans @WilsonRaylen pic.twitter.com/5WGDd3ZDdz
Corey Knapp, a Georgia fan, quote-tweeted a video from Dawgs Central publisher Graham Coffey giving a little more context. He stated that the fan “moved to attack” Wilson from his original spot behind the end zone:
Chatman provided an update later in the evening with a screenshot of a comment Wilson made on an Instagram post of the video. Wilson thought the fan in question was rooting for UGA and wanted to “dap ’em up.” Clearly, that wasn’t the case.
Cooler heads eventually prevailed. At the end of the day, though, no loss is worth attacking a player over, no matter which side of the scoreline your team’s on.
