Georgia names captains for top-15 rivalry showdown with Tennessee

The sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs have named their game captains for their 3:30 pm ET showdown against No. 15 Tennessee.
Georgia hangs the “C” on junior linebacker CJ Allen, junior offensive lineman Drew Bobo, junior defensive lineman Christen Miller and senior tight end Oscar Delp.
The Bulldogs carry an 8-game winning streak against the Volunteers – with 4 of those coming inside Neyland Stadium. Georgia has never won 9 straight in this series that dates back to 1899.
Both Georgia and Tennessee are 2-0 entering Saturday’s matchup, which is the 55th between the border rivals. The defending SEC champion Bulldogs were underwhelming in spots in a 28-6 victory over Austin Peay last week, while the Volunteers scored a program-record 72 points in a rout of East Tennessee State.
Tennessee has won 9 straight games at Neyland Stadium and is 21-1 at home since the start of the 2022 season. That lone loss? Georgia in 2023 in a 38-10 Bulldogs victory.
Saturday marks Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton’s first true road start and fourth overall. He is 2-1 as a starter, with the lone loss coming to Notre Dame in last season’s College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar, who transferred from Appalachian State and then to UCLA, will be making his SEC debut and 27th start at the FBS level. He is 15-11 overall and 2-0 at Tennessee.
