Georgia scores wacky defensive TD amid blowout of Western Kentucky

The Georgia Bulldogs were never in danger of losing to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Saturday. Kirby Smart’s team thrashed its Conference-USA opposition, leading 63-6 through three quarters. The last touchdown of that tremendous 45-minute stretch was one for the ages.
On 2nd-and-10 from the WKU 25-yard line, Hilltopper quarterback Brock Glenn pulled an RPO and tried connecting with tight end Lofton Howard in the middle of the field. His pass drilled linebacker Terrell Foster and deflected into the hands of safety Blake Stewart. Then, while returning the interception, Stewart had it stripped from behind by Western Kentucky receiver Nigel Johnson.
The loose ball bounced all the way into the corner of the end zone, where Tyriq Green somehow recovered it without going out of bounds for the score.
Georgia’s defense held Western Kentucky to 105 yards of offense through three quarters of play. The Hilltoppers put up 120 yards of offense and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but that production merely served as window dressing in a 70-20 loss.
The Bulldogs (2-0) make the trek to Fayetteville for a matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks in Ryan Silverfield‘s first SEC game next week. Kickoff between Georgia and Arkansas is 12:00 p.m. E.T. on Saturday, Sept. 19 (ABC).
