As the SEC moves to a 9-game conference schedule, teams from across the conference are canceling previously scheduled non-conference matchups. Georgia canceled a home-and-home series with Florida State in May, opting to instead play a neutral site game. On top of that, the Bulldogs have also terminated contracts to play NC State in 2033 and 2034 and Louisville in 2026 and 2027.
According to the Athens Banner-Herald, the Bulldogs canceled their 2028 contest against Florida A&M on Thursday, leaving one vacancy open for the 2028 season. Georgia is now scheduled to play non-conference games against Georgia Tech and Florida State in the 2028 season.
The game was originally agreed to in 2020 and set to be played on September 9, 2028. Because Georgia and Florida A&M mutually agreed to cancel this matchup, Georgia will not need to pay Florida A&M a $650,000 penalty as guaranteed in the original contract for the game.
Georgia is set to start its 2026 campaign on September 5 against Tennessee State. The game is set to kick off at 3 p.m. ET on SEC Network plus. In addition to a matchup against TSU, Georgia also faces non-conference battles against Western Kentucky and, as usual, Georgia Tech.
