Georgia’s defense will need all hands on deck when it welcomes the dynamic Trinidad Chambliss to Athens this weekend, but the Bulldogs will have to slow down Ole Miss without the services of a key starter.

Redshirt-sophomore safety Kyron Jones was listed as ‘out’ on Georgia‘s Wednesday night injury report, and the program released a statement on his status soon after:

“Georgia redshirt sophomore safety Kyron Jones has been diagnosed with a foot injury that will keep him out indefinitely. Under the guidance of UGA’s medical staff, he will consult with some of the nation’s leading specialists to determine the best course of treatment.”

The Charlotte native had developed into a strong member of the Bulldog secondary after two years of development within the program. Up to this point in the season, Jones has recorded 24 total tackles and a key fumble recovery in last weekend’s win over Auburn.

Jones best performance of the season came during the 44-41 shootout win over Tennessee, as he ranked second on the team with 10 tackles in that game.

While Ole Miss doesn’t necessarily light it up through the air, expect Lane Kiffin to target Jones’ replacements early and often as he searches for cracks in the normally stout Kirby Smart defense.
