One of the top defensive linemen in the Class of 2027 will announce his commitment on May 15, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday.

The player in question, 5-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho out of St. Patrick HS in Chicago, is considered the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2027 cycle according to Rivals. He’ll choose between an impressive list of finalists that include Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Notre Dame and Texas Tech.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman totaled 55 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and 5 sacks at a junior and can line up both at tackle and as a pass rusher. While Georgia was listed as a finalist, Notre Dame is thought to be the team to beat for his commitment.

The Bulldogs currently hold commitments from 2 5-star prospect in the Class of 2027: running back Kemon Spell and cornerback Donte Wright. Of note, Kirby Smart and Co. have yet to add a commitment along the defensive line.

247Sports ranks Folorunsho a little lower than some other recruiting services. According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Olorunsho is considered to be the No. 43 overall prospect and the No. 3 defensive lineman, as well as the No. 2 overall prospect out of Chicago.
