Brock Bowers continues to bring in national attention as he has a breakout freshman season at Georgia.

On Wednesday, Bowers was named the John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week following his performance during the 30-13 win over No. 11 Kentucky. This comes after Bowers was also named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after his teamโ€™s victory over the Wildcats.

Bowers made 6 catches for a game-high 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. With 6 touchdowns this year, he has tied the school record for the most touchdown catches for a tight end in a season (Leonard Pope, 2004).

Bowers first made a 27-yard catch in the end zone, and then in the fourth quarter, Bowers put the game out of reach for Kentucky as he caught a 20-yard touchdown catch.

The 2021 Mackey Award recipient will be presented on Dec. 9 at the College Football Awards Show, which will be a virtual format from the ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn.

Georgia returns to action next week against Florida in Jacksonville.
