Georgia Tech DB Jaylen Mbakwe released from hospital after scary exit vs. Tennessee

Tennessee pulled away from Georgia Tech in the second half for a comfortable 45-24 road win, but the final scoreline was second in priority when it came to what many people were thinking about after the game.
During the third quarter, the Yellow Jacket’s Jaylen Mbakwe hit his head on a teammate’s knee while making a tackle and remained on the ground for a considerable amount of time. Georgia Tech training staff members tended to him before field personnel began to make preparation to bring a stretcher onto the playing surface.
With a plethora of players kneeling, Mbakwe was eventually ushered off the field to the applause of those in attendance. The Alabama transfer was able to move his extremities as he was leaving.
And on Sunday, Georgia Tech’s football program provided good news, stating that Mbakwe has been released from Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after being held there for precautionary observation.
A native of Clay, Alabama, Mbakwe spent two seasons with the Crimson Tide before transferring to Georgia Tech. He recorded 15 total tackles, 2 pass breakups and an interception as a freshman in 2024 before playing sparingly last fall.
Mbakwe registered 1 tackle and a pass breakup in the Yellow Jackets’ opening game against Colorado.
