Georgia Tech has the receipts.
The program’s social media team is having some fun after the Yellow Jackets stunned No. 10 Florida State in a 24-21 thriller in Dublin, Ireland. Sunday morning, Georgia Tech took aim at ESPN’s College GameDay.
Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit and Pat McAfee all picked the Seminoles. Celebrity guest picker Sheamus went with the Yellow Jackets. Lee Corso was not part of Saturday’s show from Dublin.
The Georgia Tech football X account posted a video calling out the analysts. The Yellow Jackets inserted highlights in between clips of the GameDay sharing why they were picking FSU in the game.
Both Howard and Saban pointed to Florida State’s size advantage. Georgia Tech, though, went on to dominate at the line of scrimmage. Herbstreit expected FSU to move the ball on the ground, but the Yellow Jacket defense had something to say about that. McAfee predicted FSU would win “by a lot.”

The Yellow Jackets have plenty of doubters to call out. ESPN’s Football Power Index, a predictive simulation-based measure of team strength, gave Florida State a 79.7% chance to win. The Seminoles were double-digit favorites at most sportsbooks. The on-screen graphic from the picks segment says 83% of the vote was on Florida State to win the game.
To Saban’s credit, he also identified the Yellow Jackets as a potential sleeper in the ACC. After beating FSU, though, Georgia Tech may have lost “sleeper” status.

Georgia Tech has a lot to celebrate this weekend, but Brent Key’s team has a long season ahead. Up next is an intracity rivalry showdown with Georgia State at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Panthers, out of the Sun Belt, finished 7-6 last season after beating Utah State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
