Georgia Tech is living large right now, and that includes some strong work on the recruiting trail.
The college football season couldn’t have gotten off to a better start if you are a Georgia Tech fan. First, the Yellow Jackets pulled the big-time upset against No. 10 Florida State in Ireland. Now, just two days later, the Yellow Jackets secured a big-time commitment from Christian Garrett, a defensive lineman from Bogart, Georgia.
The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Russell is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He ranks as the No. 18 defensive tackle in the class and the No. 16 prospect from the state of Georgia. Overall, he sits at No. 142 in the national player rankings.

Not only did they secure the commitment from such a talented player, they took him away from their in-state rival, Georgia.
Defense was the issue for Georgia Tech last season, and coach Brent Key and his staff have made it an added emphasis to build that side of the ball. He is the third defensive line commit in this class, showing the team is rebuilding on that side of the ball.
Garrett’s verbal pledge gives Georgia Tech its 23rd known commitment in the 2025 cycle. The group ranks 19th nationally after ranking 33rd last season.
The Yellow Jackets look to continue their great to the 2024 season as they host Georgia State in Week 1.
