Georgia’s Rose Bowl victory highlights SEC-related ESPYs nominees

The ESPYs are quickly approaching, and this year’s event will feature plenty of SEC tie-ins.
From former SEC stars who are now off in their professional leagues to some big games and plays from the 2017-18 season, SEC-related names and teams are all over the annual ESPN event.
From Georgia’s thrilling Rose Bowl victory competing for “Best Game” to Tua Tagovailoa’s game-winning pass to lead Alabama to another title competing for “Best Play,” here’s a look at some notable SEC names and games in this year’s event:
- Georgia-Oklahoma Rose Bowl — Best Game
- Tua Tagovailoa’s title-winning pass — Best Play
- Sylvia Fowles (LSU) — Best Female Athlete
- Alvin Kamara (Tennessee) — Best Breakthrough Athlete
- Ben Simmons (LSU) — Best Breakthrough Athlete
- A’ja Wilson (South Carolina) — Best College Athlete
- Todd Gurley (Georgia) — Best NFL Player
- Anthony Davis (Kentucky) — Best NBA Player
- Candace Parker (Tennessee) — Best WNBA Player

The ESPYs will be shown on TV on Wednesday, July 18. The broadcast will begin at 8 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ABC.
