LSU rocked the college football world with its Sunday evening decision to fire Brian Kelly, but the coach ran into a bad omen about his status hours before the big announcement.
A recent article from John Talty of CBS Sports includes the amusing tidbit that Kelly was unable to enter the LSU football facility when he arrived for work on Sunday morning. Per Talty, a glitch was to blame for Kelly’s fingerprint not unlocking the facility door.

It felt like a weird omen but still a glitch. By the time of the day, it was real. Kelly was out.

Kelly’s inability to open the door calls to mind the viral clip of Jamal Adams being unable to enter the New York Jets facility. The Adams clip is frequently used on social media when fans joke about a coach getting fired. In the case of Kelly, any fan who used the Adams clip on Saturday night during the Tigers’ meltdown against Texas A&M was accurately predicting what happened to the LSU coach on Sunday morning.

The glitch is just a brief anecdote from Talty’s post mortem on what went wrong for Kelly at LSU, including his staff decisions, recruiting approach, CEO delegation, golfing and more.
