It’s a great night to be an Auburn football fan. Kick back and relive the action from an incredible and memorable 2013 season.
Starting at 6 p.m. eastern, 5 central, ESPNU concludes their countdown of the top college football games of 2013. No. 2 is the Tigers heart-breaking loss to the Florida State Seminoles in the BCS National Championship game. That will be followed by the No. 1 game of the year, the Iron Bowl – ‘There goes Davis!’
You know it was a magical year for the Tigers when 4 Auburn games were in the Top 25. No. 3 was Auburn-Georgia and No. 17 was Auburn-Texas A&M.
In addition, at 8 p.m. eastern, 7 central, the first football game of the 2014 season will be played. Ok, it isn’t the SEC season-opener but it is still football. The NFL preseason slate kicks off with the Hall of Fame game between the Giants and Cowboys on CBS. Keep an eye out for Giants offensive lineman and former Auburn Tiger Brandon Mosley, No. 75, whose entering his third year with New York.
It has been a wild ride for the Georgia native. From Jefferson High School to Coffeyville Community College in Kansas to the Plains of Auburn to the bright lights of New York City, Mosley has been through several twists and turns to get to the pro ranks. He played six different positions along the way.
Molsey’s first two years of high school ball were spent as a tight end for Jefferson. After his sophomore year, Mosley was asked to go play both ways and be on special teams. He lined up at linebacker and handled the team’s punting duties as well his last two years. After redshirting his first year at Coffeyville, Molsey continued to be used on both sides of the ball. The first half of the 2009 season he lined up at defensive end while playing tight end the second half.
Mosley was brought into Auburn in the spring of 2010 as a tight end. However, after gained 30 pounds during the summer, he was thrown into the Tigers offensive line during fall practice. He learned quickly and backed up Lee Ziemba at left tackle for the first three games of 2010. Mosley started the remaining 11 games at right tackle, playing a part in Auburn’s national championship run. In 2011, Mosley started all 13 games and was a named to the All-SEC second team. Mosley was a fourt-round pick by the Giants the following April.
Worked in online, print, TV and radio. Bobby Valentine once wore a pair of my socks for 8 hours. In an awkward exchange, he handed them back to me to which they were immediately deposited in a trash can.
