After knocking off the LSU Tigers this past Saturday, the Vanderbilt Commodores sit at 6-1, and Greg McElroy believes that they’re a legitimate SEC and CFP contender.
McErloy made it clear that Vanderbilt has made a big leap this season. While many may look at Vandy and question its legitimacy due to the program’s history, McElroy believes it is a legitimate CFP contender.
“To go out now and to beat an SEC blueblood and begin to achieve historic milestones almost weekly, this is showing us that Vanderbilt’s ceiling is very different than what it’s been in the past,” McElroy said. “They’re no longer content with just being in the conversation or moral victories. They are, truly, in pursuit of a legitimate conference championship, legitimate national relevance, and this is tremendous to see what they’ve done.”
Vanderbilt beat LSU 31-24 this past weekend and got its 6th win of the season. This is Vanderbilt’s best start to a season since 1950. Quarterback Diego Pavia was a threat both through the air and on the ground against the Tigers. He completed 14 of his 22 passing attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown and also added 86 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.
