Following the Kentucky Wildcats‘ second half implosion vs. the Alabama Crimson Tide, nobody expected Will Stein‘s team to succeed against the Texas A&M Aggies. However, the Wildcats shocked the country, beating the Aggies 31-21 in College Station last weekend.
Kentucky didn’t just win at Texas A&M; Stein’s team controlled the game. On his Always College Football program, Greg McElroy couldn’t speak highly enough of the Wildcats, saying they played at a rarely-seen-before level in the third quarter.
“Kentucky just showed us… dominance reserved for SEC elites,” McElroy said. “Kentucky was a 16.5-point underdog… and for one quarter on Saturday, Kentucky played football at a level that only two, maybe three programs in the SEC have played at in the last 10 years. Nobody else has played like that.”

The stats speak for themselves, and they back McElroy’s assertion. In the third quarter:
- Kentucky outgained Texas A&M 196-20
- The Wildcats out-possessed the Aggies 11:18-3:42
- Kentucky outscored Texas A&M 21-0
Wildcat quarterback Kenny Minchey completed all eight of his third-quarter passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. McElroy couldn’t believe what he watched.
“That’s a program spending 15 minutes in a gear that I don’t think anyone knew they had,” McElroy said. “It was the exact opposite [against Alabama]… one week later, completely flipped the script.”
Kentucky will look to build off its impressive showing this Saturday vs. South Alabama (12:45 p.m. E.T., SEC Network).
