Greg McElroy had a surprise waiting for SEC fans earlier this week during his picks video for Week 7 on his Always College Football podcast.

The former Alabama quarterback turned college football analyst centered the shocker in Oxford, where No. 9 Ole Miss will be hosting No. 13 Mizzou in what promises to be one of the best matchups of the week not only in the SEC but in the country.

The matchup will feature 2 ranked teams in the SEC, and that’s enough to get some major attention. But how about the fact that it’s a return to Oxford for former Rebels quarterback Austin Simmons, who spent 3 years in the Ole Miss program before transferring to Mizzou for the 2026 season.

While both programs have benefitted in 2026, with the Rebels featuring Trinidad Chambliss at quarterback while the Tigers gained Simmons, Saturday’s matchup will be a meeting among the former Ole Miss teammates as Chambliss faces the guy in Simmons that he replaced as the starter last year.

The Tigers (5-1, 2-1 SEC) and Rebels (4-1, 2-1 SEC) will kick it off at 3:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network, with the host team not surprisingly being favored. But McElroy has a surprise for everyone — he believes the visitors will pull the upset in Oxford.

“This is the upset on the board that we like the most this weekend. We’re taking the Missouri Tigers 28, the Ole Miss Rebels 27,” McElroy said. “I think Missouri’s front will take away the run. I think (Mizzou running back Jamal) Roberts can keep the ball away from Chambliss. And the rotation on defense will stay fresh enough to win the game on some late third downs. I think Missouri is a more complete football team. Their recipe of running the football to the edges, that’s going to be the difference in the game. Give me the Tigers to pull off the upset in Oxford.”

While McElroy has his own thoughts on the Mizzou-Ole Miss matchup, here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about which team has the edge as the Tigers invade Oxford for the Week 7 ranked SEC showdown:
