It took some time for Alabama‘s offense to get going Saturday, but once it overcame some weather delays and a fast start from Florida State, the unit was off to the races.
The Crimson Tide emerged from the game with a 50-36 win after trailing 21-6 in the early moments, as Kalen DeBoer’s squad scored on 5 straight possessions and racked up over 600 yards of total offense to rally past the visiting Seminoles and exact some revenge for last year’s stunning defeat.
Recapping Saturday’s action during his weekly “Always College Football” production, former Alabama signal-caller Greg McElroy had high praise for freshman quarterback Keelon Russell’s performance (320 passing yards, 4 total TDs), especially given how the team bounced back from the start.
“You look at how things went in the beginning, it was all Florida State,” McElroy said. “But this was the week that everyone was waiting for from Keelon Russell.”
A home date against South Carolina is followed by 5 straight games against ranked opponents for the Tide, meaning that Russell and company will need to continue to improve as weeks go by.
“Alabama’s offense is going to be tough to defend for anybody all season long,” McElroy said.
