Greg McElroy reflects on Oregon’s ‘really, really bad’ Week 2 upset loss at Oklahoma State

Greg McElroy discussed Oregon’s Week 2 loss to Oklahoma State during the latest episode of his “Always College Football” podcast on Sunday.
“(Dan) Lanning was pretty blunt in his postgame. He said, ‘We got our tails kicked,’ and they did,” McElroy said. “It was bad. That was really, really bad.”
There’s still a path to the College Football Playoff for Oregon. The Ducks will make the 12-team field if they end up winning the Big Ten. But their at-large hopes have taken a big blow with a loss to the Cowboys, who entered Saturday on a 10-game losing streak dating back to the 2025 season.
Dante Moore was far from his best, passing for just 198 yards and two touchdowns. The Ducks’ defense also gave up 554 yards.
“If you look at the way Oregon’s played defensively the last couple weeks, it’s been bad. Really, really bad. They gave up 237 on the ground,” McElroy said. “If you look at Dante Moore, it was a bad start … there’s some things to iron out for Oregon there.”
Oregon will get a chance to get right against FCS Portland State on Friday before B1G play begins on Sept. 26 at USC. After Saturday’s loss to the Cowboys, the Ducks can ill afford any further letdowns the rest of the way.
