Arkansas goes on the road to take on Memphis this Saturday, and Greg McElroy’s pick for this matchup is in.
I’ll take Arkansas, but I would not be surprised if this is a shootout, a high-scoring affair with teams scoring into the 40s,” McElroy said on Thursday’s Always College Football.
Arkansas is coming off a loss to Ole Miss and will be looking to rebound against the Tigers. However, playing in Memphis’s home stadium will be no easy task. Memphis is 41-7 at home since 2018 and will be looking to make its statement for the College Football Playoff as the G5 team.
If you are going to talk Arkansas football, you have to start with quarterback Taylen Green. Green has been spectacular so far this season. Through 3 games, Green has 866 yards through the air with 11 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. Add in his 307 yards on the ground and 2 touchdowns, and you have a quarterback who is leading the country in total offense with almost 1,200 yards.
While Brendon Lewis hasn’t accounted for the same offense that Green has, he has still been a formidable quarterback for the Memphis Tigers. Lewis has 608 yards through the air through 3 games. He also adds 190 yards on the ground to his total.
With these quarterbacks, it’s no wonder that McElroy expects offense. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET on Saturday.
