No. 5 Georgia is coming off an emotional 24-20 victory vs. rival Florida and has a home game vs. No. 11 Texas next weekend. However, the task at hand on Saturday is a road matchup at Mississippi State.

ESPN’s Greg McElroy believes the battle of the Bulldogs will be tighter than most expect. During the most recent edition of his Always College Football show, McElroy is predicting that Mississippi State will put up a strong fight before Georgia flexes in the second half for a fifth straight victory.

“I think it’s probably the hardest spot of the season for them. Between the Florida game and the Texas game lies a little trip to Starkville, Mississippi with an 11 a.m. kick. I’ll take Georgia but I think Mississippi State will cover here,” McElroy said. “I’ll even go as far as to say I wouldn’t be that surprised if Mississippi State is leading at halftime. Then Georgia will storm back and win like they always seem to do.”

Georgia has won its last 3 games by 10 points or less, so it’s highly possible this could be another dogfight (pun intended). Especially with Mississippi State building momentum after securing its first SEC win of the season last weekend in a 38-35 road victory at Arkansas.

Georgia at Mississippi State will be televised on ESPN. Mississippi State is striving for its first win against Georgia since 2010.
